HOW DO I REGISTER MY CHILD FOR KINDERGARTEN?

How do I enroll my child at Glenwood Elementary?

To determine if your child lives in the Glenwood Attendance area, you can call any school, the District Office or check CVUSD web site at www.conejo.k12.ca.us.  You may also read the memo sent from the District Office regarding the registration process.

What if I live outside the Glenwood Elementary Attendance area?

You may submit a School Choice application asking that your child be allowed to attend Glenwood Elementary. Forms are available at all schools and at the District Office.

When can I enroll my child for Kindergarten?

Kindergarten Round-Up begins on February 23, 2009 for students entering in Fall, 2009.  To pick up a registration packet, you must bring your two (2) proofs of residency (see residency requirements below). Starting a week in advance, you may pick up a registration packet which must be returned to the school office during Kindergarten Round-Up.  This will give you some time to complete the paperwork and locate your child’s records listed below BEFORE returning the packet.

What do I need to bring to enroll my child?
Proof of birth:

Your child must be five years old on or before December 2 of the year they're starting kindergarten.  A certified/original copy of one (1) of the following:

  • birth certificate
  • baptismal record
  • passport

NOTE:  Hospital certificates are NOT acceptable.

Proof of residency:

  • Driver's license with the correct CURRENT address AND
  • One (1) CURRENT utility bill (gas, water, or electric only)

OR

  • Two (2) DIFFERENT CURRENT utility bills (gas, water, electric only).

Telephone bills are NOT acceptable since telephones can be installed anywhere and the address used is not necessarily the home address.  Please contact the office for information regarding escrow papers or rental agreements.

Immunization requirements:

  • Polio:  4 doses, but 3 doses are enough if at least one was given after the 4th birthday.
  • DPT/DtaP/DT/Td: 4 or more doses, with last dose after 4th birthday; or a total of 5 doses at any age.
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: 2 doses of measles-containing vaccine, at least one of which must be MMR and both must be on or after 1st birthday.
  • Hepatitis B: 3 doses (Children who have received at least one dose of Hepatitis B vaccine may enter kindergarten on the condition that they receive the remaining doses within appropriate time intervals.)
  • Varicella: 1 dose or health care provider-documented varicella disease or immunity
What if I have lost the proof of birth or immunization record?
If you cannot locate your child’s original birth certificate or a passport, contact the county where your child was born, and they can issue you an “original copy.”
Can I request a specific teacher?
Requests are not accepted so staff can supply the best program for ALL students. We offer you the opportunity to fill out a “Student Characteristics/Needs” card and a “Kindergarten Questionnaire”, which the teachers and principal will refer to when placing students. We consider many factors in trying to achieve a good balance in each classroom, i.e. the number of boys and girls, struggling students, high-achievers, identified gifted and talented students, English language learners, new and returning students and in kindergarten, children with and without pre-school experience.
