Glenwood PTA would like to extend a welcome to all new and returning students and their families!

Everyone in our community who cares about children and our public schools is invited to join PTA!

What is PTA?

It stands for Parent Teacher Association.  Glenwood PTA is part of the California State PTA and the National PTA, a 110-year old household name and the nation's oldest and largest volunteer association working on issues affecting education, youth, and families.

What does PTA do for our children at Glenwood?

  • Provides assemblies that are educational and entertaining
  • Support funds for classroom materials and special activities
  • Hosts family events such as Holiday Breakfast (pancakes, entertainment, and the popular basket raffle), Jr. Olympics, and Multicultural Night (enjoying food and entertainment from different countries)
  • Field trips that reinforce the academic curriculum
  • Free books through the RIF program
  • Free ice cream at Open House
  • PTA Reflections Program
  • Yearbook - a reminder of your child's wonderful school year at Glenwood
  • MUCH MORE!

Come be a part of Glenwood's PTA!

Our PTA Board meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of each month in the school library with our Association meetings held throughout the year.  Check the website or our monthly Gator Gazette for updates on meetings!

Comfort kits

Buy your child his/her own comfort kit in the event of an emergency.  All of us want to make sure your child is prepared.  The Comfort Kit is used in the event of a major emergency and will provide your child with water, food, and warmth until you are able to arrive at Glenwood School.  The comfort kit is offered through PTA.

Reflections Program

The National PTA Reflections program is an art recognition and achievement program for all students.  Although the program follows a "contest" format, winning is NOT the emphasis.  Participation in the Reflections program is a great way for students to explore and learn about various art forms.  Creating art is a valuable process that challenges students to use their critical thinking skills as well as their talent to produce art that supports a specific theme.  Glenwood students are encouraged to particpate and may submit an entry in any of the following 6 areas:  Literature, Musical Composition, Photography, Visual Arts, Dance Choreography, and Film/Video Production.  The theme for this year is "WOW."

What is eScrip and how does it work?

eScrip provides money for our school throughout the year.  There is no cost to you for this program.  It's easy!  Each time your family swipes your grocery card (Ralphs or Vons) that has been registered to support Glenwood, our school receives 1-4% of the amount spent as a THANK YOU from that company!  These companies support Glenwood every time you shop!  Glenwood could receive over $24,000 each year from stores in our neighborhood that we shop at already!  PLEASE ask Aunts, Uncles, Grandparents, Neighbors and family friends to support Glenwood as well!  Use the membership information form to submit your grocery store card numbers to us, and we'll help with the rest!
