About Mrs. VanVoy

Hi!  My name is Mrs. Van Voy and I teach Speech and Language at Glenwood Elementary School.  I have been working in the Conejo Valley Unified School district for 7 years.  I received my Bachelors of Science degree at Arizona State University (go Sun Devils) and my Masters of Arts degree at University of California, Santa Barbara.  I am the proud mom of three kids (four, if you count my husband).  They keep me entertained, as do the wonderful students here at Glenwood.  If you have questions about your child's Speech and Language Program, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Homework and Assignments

Articulation Students:

Please show your parents how great you can use your correct speech sounds when telling them about the story you are reading in class this week!

ArticLab (Speech Improvement Class)

A Speech Improvement Class has recently been introduced for students who have mild articulation errors (they misprounounce only 1 sound such as /s/, /r/, /l/, /sh/, or /th/).  This class is being offered as part of the general education curriculum (no IEP necessary).  It involves intensive instruction two times a week for 30 minutes for only 8-10 weeks. Attendance and homework will be mandatory.  Please speak to your child's classroom teacher or contact me directly in order to determine if this program would be appropriate for your child.  A waiting list is forming now!

 Language Students:

You may earn a bonus sticker if you can tell me a grammatically correct  sentence using the fun word of the week!

Fun Word:  Persnickety - overly particular or fussy

                                        Clatter

If I should list my favorite words,
They'd sound a lot like this:
Rumble, crash, snort, jangle, thump
Roar, fizzle, splat, moo, hiss.
Not to mention gobble, clang,
Tweet sputter, ticktock, growl;
Crackle, chirp, boom, whistle, wheeze,
Squawk, jingle, quack, thud, howl.
Then of course there's grunt, toot, cuckoo,
Thunder, bang, pop, mush,
Rattle, splash, rip, ding-dong, and....
My parent's favorite - Hush!
                                                         - Joyce Armor
